WHAT’S IN A PRICE?
As a wig maker by trade, the most frequent questions I get always begin with “What’s the difference?” I recently had a new client ask me “What’s the difference between a $300.00 Lace wig and a $600.00 Lace wig. The difference will be clearly in the quality and longevity of the wig. I personally guarantee the quality of any wig for a reason. I stand behind my work and craftsmanship. Or is that craftwomanship? Well anyway; there can be numerous variations such as the number of hair donors, chemical processing, texture, fabric, length and type of knots used to create the unit. So the next time you ponder your wig investment, think about those factors and don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions.
MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!
Recently I sold a wig to a client across the country. It wasn’t a custom wig; it was an in stock wig. The unit was definitely an investment, at a price of $700. She was soooo excited about her purchase, this being her 1st lace wig and all. When she cut the Lace unit and attempted to adhere the wig, she realized the wig did not fit. She of course called me in tears.
I always prefer to do a custom wig, but if you do order an in stock wig, take measurements of your head yourself and have someone else take them a second time too. Typically, if your circumference measurement is larger than 23”, you need a custom wig. Happy wig shopping!
CAN YOU EVER HAVE TOO MANY WIGS?
Recently I was asked by a new client of mine if she should get a curly or a straight wig. My answer will always be please, please, please purchase two wigs if you can. While Lace wigs are hands down, absolutely gorgeous: the maintenance of one is a little time consuming. In a world where multi-tasking is absolutely essential, having an extra wig on hand that you can put on as soon as you take one off is sooooo convenient. This is good for many reasons put the two most important reasons are.
1: You don’t have to spend hours cleaning and preparing the unit for reapplication
2: It will double the life of your wig.
My wigs last over a year, but if you rotate between two or more wigs, it can double and in some instances triple the life of your wig. Over 2 years a $600 wig will cost about $25 per month in the long run. Besides, we girls know two is always better than one.
